Metaphorical sweat ran down her brow. Furrowed. She sat hunched over her desk in such a way that no one could quite tell what she feverishly labored away at. She mumbled to herself, “But what is the IDEA?!…Hmm…no, it’s not that...maybe it’s that...yeah…that’s it…that’s definitely it…let’s go with that…” Curious onlookers watched excitedly from a distance behind her, afraid to interrupt the process. Tension and anticipation hung heavy in the air, everyone eager for her to produce a masterpiece.

So. Much. Pressure.

Hours passed. And then, finally, she leaned back from her desk and said to herself,

“It’s…

…an ad…”

She closed her laptop and thought about how fucking dumb captialism is.

[change scene]

Hi, my name is Justine and I make ads. More specifically, I’m a creative with a background in art direction and design that can also write. Even more specifically, I’m an Associate Creative Director at Kamp Grizzly living in Portland, Oregon. And, no, I don’t totally hate advertising — I do enjoy finding ways to use my evil “buy-this-thing” marketing manipulation powers for good. Or at least to make people laugh. (Hey, we’re all stuck on this late-stage capitalism ride, might as well make the most of it.)

I’ve won some awards for my work including Lions, Shortys, Webbys, One Show Pencils, Clios, and blah blah blah. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with some pretty amazing brands and people.

When I’m not doing the ad thing, I sleep, read, hike, camp, run, cook, pretend I’m an urban farmer, play with clay, watch movies, and do crosswords. If you were to lump me into a target audience, I’d probably fall under “tired 30-something woman looking for escape from reality.”

And, yes, I did remove my partner from the above photo. I love him very much, but this is a professional website, afterall.

Say hello!
